Science and factual formats use the polygraph as a subject rather than a device — the programme is explaining how the instrument works, not using it to settle something.

That requires an examiner who can teach on camera: what each channel measures, why a physiological response is not the same as a lie, and where the method's genuine limits sit. It is the most honest use of a polygraph on television.
